"What do I do next you ask?" Now is
the time to get the tool necessary for building your
website. First, you're going to need software that
will allow you to upload your website's software onto your
server. There are quite a few programs out there that
can do this. I personally use WS
FTP Pro. I love it's features. I have also
used CuteFTP which is
also a very popular FTP software. In case you're
wondering what FTP stand for it means File Transfer Protocol.
You are also going to need software that will allow
you to edit the design of your website. One of the
most popular software programs that I use is Microsoft's FrontPage.
Basically, you need a software program that will allow you
to edit "Hyper Text Markup Language" or HTML or
XTML. HTML is the basic programming language used on
the internet. FrontPage or any similar HTML editing
software should allow you to design your website without
understanding in-depth programming language convert your
file(s) into HTML and allow you to preview your website
before publishing it on the Internet.
Start thinking about the design and content that will be
featured on your website. Don't be in such a rush to get
your website on the internet. Or I should say
published on the internet. There is nothing wrong with
setting up your domain name, web hosting and even testing
the waters by practicing uploading a page or two to your
server. However, the worst thing that you can do is to
submit your website to major search engines or directories
before you have done your homework.
